After wiring up the power and digital connectors according to the manual, the Laser fired right up without any problem. The manual is quite well translated and complete. My 20W version of this Fiber Laser only used 95W of power at full output, so their specs are quite conservative. A 24V-5A supply is adequate. Their customer support folks suggested grounding the Laser housing to the power and digital supplies. The shells of the D-Sub connectors can be used to accomplish this. I found that I needed to put pull-down resistors on the digital inputs or they float down very slowly. Just connecting them to 5V through a switch is not adequate. The red dot focuses to a very sharp point at the same position as the IR beam, so that is quite convenient for working with non-visible light. Be sure to wear proper eye protection.

Got the new source installed and the machine has never worked so good. The.
